A Warm Welcome from the Secretary-General
It is my honour, as the 11th Secretary-General of Warwick Model United Nations, to welcome you to one of the best Crisis Conferences of the United Kingdom, WarMUN 2018, which will be hosted at the University of Warwick from the 16th to the 18th February 2018.
The aim for the XIth edition of WarMUN is first and foremost to allow you to enjoy your time as Chair, Backroom Staff or Delegate. Whether you are an MUN lover or a beginner, an MUN Conference is the best place to challenge yourself. Returning to its roots as the first total-crisis conference in the country, WarMUN XI will accommodate many levels of intensity in its crisis committees, capable of challenging even the most experienced Crisis Delegates, while allowing newly forged participants to enter the fray.
The Alternate Universe Crisis, “the Axis Victory”, is the biggest crisis of this year’s edition. This high-level crisis is custom-built in order to go beyond the limits of cooperation and diplomacy. Indeed, as the events never happened, everything is possible: invasions, assassinations, nukes ad infinitum, but also diplomatic debates between diametrically opposed actors, self-determination, and freedom.
The Security Council-Hybrid Crisis, “The Kashmir Conflict”, is the second crisis of WarMUN. Perfect for delegates that have not yet experienced crisis, this hybrid format will allow beginners to discover the excitement of crisis without being lost in the skirmish. Delegates from the Security Council will experience the movement of a clause-led forum trying its best to resolve the territorial issue between Pakistan, India, and China before tensions escalate beyond the point of no return.
On behalf of the Secretariat of WarMUN 2018, I welcome you all to join us at the University of Warwick.
